EARLY YEARS

The intent of this qualification is to develop early year’s educators to support class children in early year’s education. Our intent is that learners leave us with the knowledge skills and behaviours to be a highly valued member of the staff that can support children on a one to one basis or in groups to nurture their development, promote social inclusion and meet learning objectives. Learners will be able to provide a high quality service to the children they look after ensuring they have capabilities to support in the teaching of the curriculum and supporting the child/children on a daily basis. Our learners will be upskilled not only in the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the standard but in their own behaviours, attitudes and any other development areas that are highlighted from initial assessment. All learners will undertake upskilling in Maths, English and Digital skills

Teaching and learning will include

Safeguarding, GDPR, E&D and H&S in Early years Digital skills

Codes of practise , legislation and safeguarding

Early years pedagogical principles

Child development theorists

Stages of development, factors that can influence development and recognising autism

Emotional wellbeing and family structures

Observation assessment and planning

Activities and socialisation

Child stages, varied learning experiences and independence of children

Partnership working, health and wellbeing and promoting healthy lifestyles

Development of speech and language, phonics, Maths and English

Curriculum based planning, indoor outdoor play, understanding of the world

Unacceptable behaviour and strategies

Abuse recognition and signs of abuse – serious case review

Infection control and care routines

Challenging poor practise, policy, procedure, whistleblowing, record keeping

All learners will need to achieve EPA (end point assessment) Asset support all learners through this process. The EPA for this qualification is –

All learners must achieve or have a current Paediatric level 3 qualification, Maths and English at level 2.
